All the Little Details

I was awoken very early this morning by a storm that raced into the metro Atlanta area. I am sensitive to severe storms, so I got up to put on a pot and decided this morning would be a great time to work on some blogging. Secretly amidst the lightening flashes I think I was dreaming of spring, and being outside before the brutality of summer hits.

I added the FAQ page, some photos and edited my profile to give ya'll a little more understanding of the ShugaBaker Household. I will add photos to flickr as cookies are made and themes created.

I know its not always easy to think dream or work up your special event. Even if you have a "theme" sometimes putting it all together can be a challenge. Not because you're not smart, you just may have a million other things on your plate.

Weddings seem to be the biggest culprit of this. Brides want that day, THE day to be in the top ten of ones they remember the rest of their lives. Well of course you do! Over doing it can happen easily with out even realizing it though.

Example A:

"My husband to be is a rodeo bull riding stud of cowboy man.. Oh look at those cute cowboy boots!"
Before you know it, everything from the bouquets to the reception hall has boots, horseshoes, cacti, steer skulls, and coyotes. Oh darlin, no.

Much like any design element, a wedding is a storyboard. A color, a theme, a few well placed focal points and some extra little special decor pieces can make your day very special indeed. This is what I love about cookies.

Let me Paint a Picture for you:

The plates can be a mix match of colorful garden florals. Soft lilacs yellows creams. Tea Cups take the place of wine glasses and candles glow softly in clear little votive holders. On the buffet are some tasty finger nibbles easily plated and no mess to accompany a light palate of other foods. Little patches of moss dandelion and wild flower buds sprout under the plates and at the end silver plates of ladyfingers, cookies and some fruit greet your guests. The perfect garden bridal tea has been created. I bet you could do it for far less than your thinking! If you were to decorate yourself, family friends and thrift shops would yield your china cups and service plating. Caterers often will have buffets, table and chairs. Most will have a white linen service available as part of their set up. Who in your family crafts? A trip to a craft shop will deliver little vines to wrap around the napkins. Its getting easier isn't it? I love planning weddings...
